Are sprouts for you?

There is always a risk of exposure to bad bacteria when eating fresh produce. Please take the necessary precautions when consuming raw foods and in deciding if sprouts are right for you. Foodsafety.gov has some helpful guidelines.

There are powdered mung bean sprouts on the market, but we haven't tested that out yet. Some people skip the juicing and just eat sprouts everyday. We find the easiest method to be juicing. Let us know what's working for you :)

step2.png

grow or buy bean sprouts!

Most international grocery stores carry mung bean sprouts, as do some national chains. Your best bet is to call around and find the best source in your town, they will often be able to tell you what day fresh sprouts are delivered.

Some people grow their own! The internet is full of helpful tips on how to do that safely.

how much to buy/make?

This is sort of up to you. These numbers are for an averaged sized man or woman. What is that? WHO KNOWS. We tell everyone to start here and adjust as needed.

Recommended dose of mung bean sprout juice per week:
3/4 cup juice per week OR ~2 TBSP a day.
6 cups dry sprouts (approx. 16oz) yields ~3/4 cup juice.
(Don't worry. Step 6 gives you juice drinking options!)

If possible, it is best to make fresh sprout juice once a week and keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Some people choose to make two weeks worth at a time, and freeze half to thaw for the second week. These people report similar positive effects, but we can't be sure.

Initially it is best to experiment with your dose and your method. REMEMBER: Never Eat Slimy Sprouts! This will factor into your sprout getting schedule :)

step4.png

wash your produce!

Always wash and rinse your produce!

Juice!

Almost any juicer will work! Follow the instructions of your juicer and it should be a piece of cake.

It's a little bit messy at first, but overtime you will be the boss of those unruly little beans. Just takes a little practice!

You will notice that bean sprout juice doesn't exactly look appetizing at first. It's a little cloudy and has a strange greenish glow...DON'T WORRY! This is normal!

Drink up! POUR YOURSELF A GLASS.

SPROUT JUICE + FRUIT &/or VEGETABLE JUICE:
Mix your sprout juice with any combination of fruit or vegetable juice. A little ginger is always nice.

Check that your juice can stay safely refrigerated for 7 days and make a fresh new batch every week. Some freshly squeezed juices may not be fresh for 7 days - so do a little research on your juice concoction of choice!

DRINK UP! SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS!

SPROUT JUICE SHOT + CHASER:
Pour yourself a shot glass full of sprout juice! This is sometimes known as the "take your medicine" approach. It doesn't take long to get used to the taste, but having a chaser on hand certainly won't hurt.

now what?

It takes about 30 days of drinking your sprout juice to feel the full benefits. Though, some people report positive changes before then.

We can't say for sure how increasing your intake of isoflavanoids through drinking bean sprout juice will affect you exactly. BUT here are some things reported by bean sprout juice loyalists: healthier looking hair and skin, more energy, better short term memory, better bowel performance and decreased inflammation. We hope it will do all of that for you and then some!
